Our history
1962
Tuscarora Plastics
Tuscarora Plastics was founded in 1962 and became the largest manufacturer of custom shape molded foam in the U.S. Between 1962 and 2001, Tuscarora Plastics made many acquisitions in molded foam and related industries to grow its footprint and capabilities.
2001
SCA (Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget)
In 2001, SCA (Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget), a large global manufacturer of paper, packaging,
and hygiene products acquired Tuscarora to expand its North American presence. SCA added
capabilities in integrating foam, paper, and other plastic materials to the original competencies
in custom shape molded foam.
2007
Tegrant Corporation
In 2007, Metalmark acquired SCA’s protective, consumer, and other businesses to form Tegrant
Corporation. In 2011, Tegrant acquired Createc, which increased its business in consumer
packaging and also substantially increased its business in the Automotive component
business.
2011
Sonoco
In Q4 of 2011, acquired Tegrant Corporation, and integrated foam molding operations into its
Protective Solutions segment.
2024
In 2024, Black Diamond Capital Management acquired the Protective Solutions segment of Sonoco Products Company, rebranding the business as Ventek Solutions LLC. This acquisition encompassed the existing manufacturing footprint along with the embedded design engineering, program management, and commercial resources. As Ventek Solutions, we are dedicated to maintaining our advanced capabilities in creative design, thoughtful engineering, meticulous program management, operational excellence, and unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction.
